Pilke in short

Pilke is a dating app with no swiping and no chatting. Keep your calendar up to date, send invitations, answer the ones you get, and go on dates!

Using Pilke comes down to three things, and they matter equally: leave any one of them out and no date happens.

  • Keep your calendar up to date. Mark the times you could go on a date. Candidates are only found for times you both have free, and other people find you the same way. See Your free times.
  • Invite someone. Find 3 candidates and send one of them an invitation. See Who you are shown and Invitations.
  • Answer invitations and go on the dates. When someone invites you, pick a time and a place, or decline. A date you agree to is one you keep. See The day of the date.
The Dates page: sparks at the top, invitations and dates in the middle, Find a date! at the bottom

The Dates page is where all three come together. At the top are your sparks 1. Pilke runs on them: they build up from your calendar and your dates, and 5 sparks send a date invitation. In the middle are the invitations waiting for your answer, the ones you have sent and your agreed dates. Under them is Date history, with the dates you have been on. Press Find a date! 2 to find new candidates. See Sparks.

Everything is said face to face

Pilke arranges the date, so there is nothing to message about. You turn up and get to know each other.

You only really get to know someone face to face. In messages it is easy to give a polished picture of yourself, and long chats build expectations the first meeting may not live up to. So Pilke takes you straight to the date, and getting to know each other starts there.

That is behind some rules that might otherwise seem strict. The other person cannot ask you anything, and you cannot tell them you are running late: they turn up and wait. So you can tell us about a no-show while the date is still on (The day of the date).

Signing up

Creating a profile takes about fifteen minutes. Pilke asks for your phone number (confirmed with a code by text message, and how you sign in from then on), a first name, your date of birth, your gender and a photo. Pilke is for people aged 18 and over. Then come the questions candidates are chosen by:

  • The personality quiz, 14 situations where you choose what you would do. Your answers shape the order candidates are shown in.
  • Who you are looking for and what you want from a date. These narrow down candidates in both directions.
  • Languages, so you always have one in common.
  • Date areas and things to do, at least 3 of them. Venues are chosen from these.
  • Your free times. The more free times you mark, the better the candidates we can find. One 1-hour slot is enough to start.

When you confirm your phone number you get 5 welcome sparks. That is enough for one date invitation, so you can invite someone as soon as your profile is done.
